TravelServices, Inc. (TSI) has been
operating in the Philippines since 1969 as Thomas Cook
Travel. Originally a partnership between Smith Bell &
Company and the Thomas Cook Group of UK, the Metrobank
Group gained control of the company in 1986 by acquiring
majority share of Smith Bell & Company. The company was
then renamed as Travelex when the latter acquired Thomas
Cook's Global and Financial Services Group.
Travelex'share was eventually bought by Asia Pacific Top
Management International Resources Corp, a leading
management company which operates the Marco Polo Plaza
Cebu Hotel. The company was renamed First Metro Travel
Inc.
In 2010, TravelPeople Ltd. Inc., an
affiliate of the Magsaysay Group of Companies, entered
into a share purchase agreement with First Metro
Investment Corporation, the investment arm of
the Metrobank Group, to acquire the majority shares of
First Metro Travel Inc. The new entity was given the
name TravelServices Inc.
At another forefront, FCM Travel Solutions
a global Travel Management Company (TMC), established in
2004 through Australia's largest travel company, Flight
Centre Limited, began to emerge as a major player in the
travel industry. Boasting a strong global network,
delivering comprehensive service to its customers, and
accelerating their success as a world class
travel-management, company, this then paved the way
towards the union of two entities, dedicated towards
service excellence in the corporate travel industry.
Today, FCM Travel Solutions Philippines
